SECTION 12. Right to bear arms. The right of every citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person, or property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall not be called in question, but the Legislature may regulate or forbid carrying concealed weapons. Mississippi law allows for open and concealed carry of a pistol without a permit with a few exceptions. Refer to, Miss. Code Ann. § 45-9-101
You need a Mississippi concealed carry permit (Miss. Code Ann. § 45-9-101) or enhanced concealed carry permit (Miss. Code Ann. § 97-37-1) to conceal carry outside the state of Mississippi, but the state you visit must have a concealed carry reciprocity agreement with Mississippi.
This permit allows you to carry in many locations restricted under Concealed Carry with a few exceptions. In courtrooms during a judicial proceeding, any place of nuisance as defined in (Miss. Code Ann. § 95-3-1), any police, sheriff or highway patrol station or any detention facility, prison or jail.
If you would like to apply for a Mississippi enhanced firearms permit you must complete an approves 8-hour course on firearms safety taught by an enhanced permit certified firearm instructor (We offer this course).
There are exceptions to attending the 8 hour course for active duty military, veterans, and law enforcement (see application for details). Refer to, (Miss. Code Ann. § 45-9-101) and (Miss. Code Ann. § 97-37-1) .
